Spring Cleaning ~ In January???

December 28, 2010

In just a few short days, 2010 will be over and 2011 will have begun.  As the year comes to a close, it’s time to reflect on the past and look to new beginnings.

At Status Not Quo we have had a great year in 2010 and are looking forward to some exciting growth in 2011.  In 2010 we have had the privilege of continuing to work with some wonderful clients with whom we have shared great relationships since the 90’s as well as establishing several new relationships with clients whom we hope to share similar success with.  We were happy to spread some of this prosperity to those in need and were able to donate on our clients’ behalf to several worthy organizations within our community: the Santa Clarita Food Pantry, the Domestic Violence Center, and the local YMCA.  We have also been able to give back to the community by volunteering our time to wonderful organizations like the Chamber of Commerce, the Soroptimists, and the Valley Industry Association.

In 2011, we look forward to continuing building on this great foundation as well as expanding our current offering.  In order to start the year off fresh, I find that it is helpful to do a little early Spring Cleaning.  Similar to the “Detoxing” that many will be doing to get rid of the overindulgence of the holidays, businesses should see the New Year as an opportunity to do a little “cleansing” themselves.  1st, try eliminating those things that are keeping you from achieving the goals you set forth.  Are there things in your business that you have “overindulged” in that need shaping up?  Now is the perfect time to make a shift.  One of the positive impacts that the recent recession has had, is that people have come to realize that there is a lot of “stuff” that we thought we “had to have” that we now know we can do without.  Is there anything you are doing in your business that you once thought was important that you now find superfluous?  If so, throw it out – clean it up!  In a recent meeting with one of our new clients, the client mentioned wanting to print a marketing book.  When we asked why they wanted to do this, their response was that it was what was always done.  We encouraged them instead to create an Extranet where their clients could have access to the same information, but was a method of disseminating information that was more timely, more easily updatable, and not to mention more “environmentally friendly”.  Try and look at things differently in this New Year.  Get a fresh perspective, even if it requires getting a little outside help.  You may find that there are a lot of things that you can do to “clean house” and have a more efficient organization.

I hope that 2011 is an amazing year for you.  I appreciate all the wonderful comments and encouragement that you have provided.  Thanks so much for reading and cheers to you.

Wishing you and yours a very prosperous New Year!

Pam
