Bucket Lists

August 30, 2012

Recently we at SNQ have started doing a weekly “Happy Hour” to stop and appreciate the wonderful environment and people we have in our company and to get to know each other on a more personal level.  To help with this, our President has decided that we should come prepared to discuss a new topic each week.  This week’s “assignment” was to come with 3 items on our bucket list.  Well, I could come up with 2 so of course, I turned to Google to do a search on what others thought would be good items for their bucket list.

Here’s what I found – I have been very blessed to have been able to do many of the things that were on other’s lists.  I’ve been able to scuba dive in exotic locations (Tahiti for our 10 year wedding anniversary), I’ve taken a cooking class (didn’t help), I’ve jumped off a cliff into beautiful blue water (Copper Canyon – Lake Havasu – no, you’re not getting any more details on this one), and the list goes on.

So, you may be asking, why is this a good blog topic and what will I glean from reading this…  Many of my readers know that I like to write about work-life balance.  Well, what better way to take inventory than to make a list of things that you’d like to do in life and then start doing them – today.  So many people make the mistake of waiting for that special day to come.  When my sister was killed by a drunk driver at the young age of 27, my mantra became Life’s Too Short so make the most of every day.

This week, I saw a quote that I thought sums this thought up very well:

“Life is meant to be lived purposefully, well and meaningfully.
Refrain from wasting it away!”

Here are some tips I found on a website called Abundance Tapestry on making your own bucket list:

  • Make the List so you can check things off easily
  • Rate each item according to ease of accomplishment, satisfaction or thrill level.
  • Split the list into major categories and prioritize them

Here is the list of categories that were recommended:

  • Travel
  • Sports & Special Interest
  • Food & Cuisine
  • Charity
  • Leaving a Legacy
  • Learn Something New
  • Success Breakthroughs
  • Love, Romance & Family Relationships
  • Other

Hope this helps you get started!

Thanks for reading!

good. I don’t know who you are but definitely you are going to a famous
blogger if you aren’t already 😉 Cheers!
